Occupational Therapist

Job Responsibilities:
The occupational therapist facilitates development and rehabilitation of patients with mental, emotional and physical disabilities. Any direct patient care provided will be performed as defined by the Kansas Occupational Therapy Practice Act.

Job Qualifications:
1. Evaluates patient's functional status (muscle function, endurance, visual coordination, written and verbal communication skills, self care ability, work capacity, etc) 2. Helps patient develop or regain physical or mental functioning or adjust to disabilities by implementing programs involving practice in functional, prevocational, vocational, activities of daily living and sensor motor activities; directing patient, family/caregivers and InMyHome staff 3. Promotes maximum independence by selecting and constructing therapies according to patient's physical capacity, intelligence level and interest 4. May fabricate splints and instruct patient in the use of various types of adaptive equipment to improve function 5. Evaluates results of occupational therapy by observing, noting and evaluating patient's progress; recommending and implementing adjustments and modifications 6. Maintains appropriate clinical records, clinical notes and reports to case manager any changes in patient's condition. 7. Attends and contributes to case conferences or other meetings to ensure coordinated and comprehensive plans of care for the patient 8. Identifies patient and family/caregiver needs for other home health services and gives referrals as appropriate 9. Supervises certified occupational therapy assistants according to InMyHome policy and state regulations 10. When therapy is the only skilled service, instructs, supervises and evaluates home health aide care every two (2) weeks 11. Participates in discharge planning for patient

Position Qualifications: 1. Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy curriculum 2. Registered with the National Registration Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association 3. Community/home health occupational therapy experience preferred 4. Demonstrate good verbal and written communication and organizational skills 5. Possess and maintain current CPR certification 6. Licensed driver with available transportation
